Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy attends the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 7, in Dien Bien Phu city, the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Dien Bien province solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).

Comrade Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister delivered a speech at the celebration ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were: former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former President Nguyen Minh Triet; former President Truong Tan Sang; former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van An; Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Head of the Central Steering Committee to celebrate major holidays and important historical events of the country in the three years 2023-2025 Truong Thi Mai; Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien.

Also attending the ceremony were: Politburo members, former Politburo members; Party Central Committee Secretaries, former Party Central Committee Secretaries; former Vice Presidents; Deputy Prime Ministers, former Deputy Prime Ministers; Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, former Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly; Party Central Committee members; leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, and organizations and leaders of a number of provinces and centrally-run cities; revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, heroes of labor, generals in the people's armed forces; representatives of Dien Bien Phu soldiers, veterans, former people's police, former youth volunteers, frontline laborers, forces participating in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and the resistance war against the French colonialists; provincial leaders and representatives of families of war invalids, martyrs, and families with meritorious services to the country in Dien Bien province.

International guests attending the ceremony included: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Chansamone Chanyalath; Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Neth Savoeun; Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhang Qingwei; Minister of the Armed Forces of the French Republic Sébastien Lecornu; representatives of foreign representative agencies in Vietnam, defense attaches of other countries and representatives of Vietnamese people abroad.

In particular, the ceremony was honored to receive a congratulatory flower basket from Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the congratulations, most sincere and warmest feelings and wishes for the success of the celebration from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to all delegates, compatriots, comrades and soldiers nationwide.

Representing the leaders of Nghe An province, comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation attended the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The Dien Bien Phu victory "Resounding throughout the five continents, shaking the world" on May 7, 1954, recorded in the nation's history as a Bach Dang, a Chi Lang or a Dong Da in the 20th century, has great significance for the Vietnamese people and peace-loving people in the world.

The victory affirmed the mettle and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by President Ho Chi Minh; the maturity of the Vietnam People's Army and the strength of the great solidarity bloc of Vietnamese peoples.

The victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign completely crushed the Nava plan, dealt a fatal blow to the French colonialists' invasion plot, created an advantage on the diplomatic front at the Geneva Conference, and ended the long, arduous resistance war against French colonialism by the Vietnamese people.

This is also a great victory of solidarity, friendship, and the noble spirit of international cooperation with the great help of China, the Soviet Union and socialist countries, and the support of peace-loving people around the world; it is a victory of solidarity and friendship among the three Indochinese countries of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia.

President Ho Chi Minh affirmed that “The Dien Bien Phu victory is a golden milestone in history”; “It is a great victory of our people and also a common victory of all oppressed peoples in the world”.

The victory left many valuable lessons that need to continue to be promoted and spread in the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland today and in the future.

In 2024, our country will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory on a national scale; this is a great national celebration that many cadres, party members, soldiers of the people's armed forces, veterans, youth volunteers, frontline workers and people from all walks of life pay attention to and follow.

Through organizing propaganda activities to commemorate the event, we aim to arouse and promote the tradition of patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and the will to fight and win of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in the cause of building and firmly defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam; honor and express deep gratitude to generations of Vietnamese people who sacrificed their blood and made many contributions to the cause of national liberation and reunification.

This is also an opportunity for us to be more proud of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh who led the Vietnamese revolution to overcome all storms and reach the shore of glory.

The historic victory of Dien Bien Phu will forever be a source of pride and a great source of strength to encourage and motivate cadres, party members and people of all walks of life to strive and make efforts to overcome difficulties, successfully complete political goals and tasks in 2024, compete to achieve achievements to celebrate the great national holiday, and be determined to successfully implement the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

During the resistance war against French colonialism, Nghe An not only provided human and material support to the battlefields, but also successfully fulfilled its international obligations to the Lao revolution. In particular, when the Dien Bien Phu Campaign was launched, the Party Committee and people of Nghe An took on the important task of building a strong rear in all aspects.

Together with the people and soldiers of the whole country, Nghe An devoted all its resources and efforts to contribute to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. From February 1954, implementing the General Mobilization Order to serve the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, 5,438 Nghe An youths enthusiastically joined the army.

In addition, Nghe An province mobilized 6,600 laborers, contributing more than 1.5 million working days to open roads to the front line. They all carried within them the tradition of their heroic Soviet homeland, revolutionary enthusiasm, and contributed with the whole country to the Dien Bien Phu Victory "famous in five continents, shaking the earth".

Nghe An has 696 martyrs and 84 wounded soldiers, 708 Dien Bien soldiers, 408 youth volunteers and 148 frontline laborers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign still alive.

Previously, on the afternoon of May 6 in Dien Bien province, comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province visited and offered flowers and incense to commemorate the martyrs of Dien Bien Phu battlefield and A1 National Martyrs Cemetery; and offered incense to commemorate General Vo Nguyen Giap at the Dien Bien Phu Campaign Command Relic Site in Muong Phang commune.
