Storm No. 5: Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital suffers estimated damage of 5.3 billion VND
According to a quick report from the Nghe An Department of Health, storm No. 5 caused property damage to 26/49 facilities and units in the health sector. Specifically, many units had their corrugated iron roofs, plaster ceilings, walls, signs, trees broken, and some electronic equipment damaged.
Several medical units were severely damaged.

Total estimated damage was 5.3 billion VND.

Vinh City General Hospital (facility 2) had its corrugated iron roof flipped over, the frame, bracing, and corrugated iron roof support on the 3rd floor, building A were damaged; medical records and documents stored on the 3rd floor roof were completely wet. The signboard system and suspended ceiling of the reception area, examination department, and examination rooms were severely damaged. Electric gate number 2 collapsed; 01 computer screen in the blood collection area was damaged due to leakage; 01 queue number machine in the reception area was damaged.
The Rehabilitation Hospital had some corrugated iron sheets on the roof, the corridor connecting the houses, and the stainless steel water collection troughs stripped off. The total damage was about 312 million VND... Dien Chau General Hospital had about 1,000m of its roof blown off.2, 14 trees fell, estimated damage of about 300 million VND.

Nghi Loc General Hospital's corrugated iron roof collapsed in the dining area, the plaster ceiling was damaged over 50m, and the corrugated iron roof was damaged 70m.2, estimated damage of 150 million VND... The Psychiatric Hospital had the plaster ceiling of the examination area fall off, the corrugated iron roof of some departments flew off, estimated damage of 200 million VND.
The Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center had 15m of fence collapsed, the temporary garage collapsed, the corrugated iron roof of the blood transfusion and medical examination building was blown off, trees were broken, estimated damage was 100 million VND... Nam Dan Medical Center had 2,000m of corrugated iron roof blown off2in treatment homes, administration homes.
However, thanks to the good response to storm No. 5 according to the "4 on-site" motto, medical units still ensured good medical examination and treatment activities. Staff, patients and patients' families were guaranteed absolute safety, with no human casualties. Medical equipment and essential medicines were not affected.
Focus on overcoming the consequences

Responding to storm No. 5, on August 25, Nghe An Department of Health issued Decision No. 1465/QD-SYT to establish 4 working groups for natural disaster prevention and search and rescue. During and after the storm, these 4 working groups were present to grasp the situation, inspect the damage and promptly direct the work to overcome the consequences.
At Nghe An Mental Hospital, as soon as the storm receded, the hospital's Board of Directors urgently directed departments and offices to synchronously deploy many solutions to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, ensuring that medical examination and treatment take place continuously and safely.

Doctor Tran Thi Tuyet - Deputy Director of Nghe An Mental Hospital said: The hospital has mobilized all staff to participate in environmental sanitation, clean up fallen trees, reinforce the campus, check the electricity, water and medical equipment systems to promptly fix the problem. Clinical departments are required to arrange staff on duty 24/7, ready to receive, provide emergency care and treat patients.
Up to now, Nghe An Mental Hospital has basically overcome the consequences caused by storm No. 5, maintaining good medical examination and treatment, and health care for the people. The hospital has been and is continuing to strengthen preventive measures, not allowing epidemics to arise after the storm, while ensuring absolute safety for patients and their families throughout the treatment process.

Similarly, after the storm passed, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital also urgently deployed recovery work to ensure normal medical examination and treatment activities. On the morning of August 26, hundreds of hospital staff and doctors participated in sawing and cutting down broken trees and collecting garbage.
According to the leader of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital: Storm No. 5 caused many trees to fall, some corrugated iron roofs to be blown off, water splashed and caused leaks in some areas, and localized power outages. However, thanks to careful preparation in advance, the treatment rooms were not seriously affected, and the safety of patients and medical staff was ensured. The cleaning at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has now been basically completed, thereby ensuring environmental hygiene, disease prevention, and helping people feel secure when coming for medical examination and treatment.
