According to Da Lat City Police, from January 2017 to now, Thang and Thuan have committed more than 10 cases of stealing telecommunication and electric cables in Da Lat City. On April 13, when Thang and Thuan were burning electric cables to get copper cores at the old Ma Thanh area (now the Lam Dong province cultural and sports project, on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh street), they were caught red-handed.
Evidence collected at the scene included about 82 kg of copper core of 3-phase underground electric cable of Da Lat Wastewater Treatment Plant (Ward 6), many cable cutting tools and motorbike 49V3-6888 used to transport electric cable.
Thang and Thuan confessed that they took advantage of the guard's negligence to sneak into the factory, used an axe to cut the electrical cables that were placed underground through the wastewater pond but were not yet in use, and used a motorbike to transport them away and hide them. When convenient, they cut them short and burned the copper cores to sell to the scrap collection facility of Le Van Hai and his wife (46 years old, living on Kim Dong Street, Ward 6).
The estimated damage caused by Thang and Thuan is about 400 million VND. Thang and Thuan both have criminal records for property theft.
