Arrest of suspect who stabbed his love rival to death in Vinh city

On the afternoon of June 11, information from the Department of Investigation Police on Social Order Crimes (PC45) of Nghe An Provincial Police said that the unit had urgently arrested suspect Tran Van Cuong (born in 1987, residing in Vinh City) to investigate the act of murder.

Suspect Cuong was identified as the person who used a knife to stab to death Vo Dinh Toan (born in 1988, residing in Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city) and seriously injured Hoa (born in 1990) on the afternoon of June 2.

According to the case file, recently due to emotional conflicts, Cuong and Hoa have been living separately. On the afternoon of June 2, hearing that Hoa was preparing to go out with Toan, Cuong got jealous and immediately called Tran Van Tri (born in 1988, residing in Hung Thinh commune, Hung Nguyen district) to ask Tri to drive to meet Toan and Hoa.

At around 1:30 p.m. on June 2, Tri, wearing a mask, drove a motorbike carrying Cuong to Dang Van Thuy Street, Block 15, Cua Nam Ward, and stopped the motorbike. There, Cuong saw Toan standing and talking to his wife after a funeral.

Cuong immediately jumped off the motorbike and used a knife he had prepared in advance to repeatedly slash Toan and Hoa. Both victims were then taken to the emergency room, but Toan died on the evening of June 2 due to severe injuries.

After committing the crime, both suspects fled the scene on a motorbike. Upon receiving the report, Vinh City Police and PC45 of Nghe An Province Police promptly investigated, examined the scene, performed an autopsy and arrested the two suspects.

Afternoon of June 3,Tran Van Triwas arrested by the police while hiding in the locality. Tri was identified as an accomplice, a suspect who helped Cuong commit the crime.

It is known that suspect Cuong has 5 previous convictions for sexual intercourse with children, disturbing public order, resisting law enforcement officers, and destroying property.

At the investigation agency, Cuong initially confessed to using a knife to kill Toan and Hoa due to a love conflict.
