Woman arrested for impersonating police lieutenant to defraud over 1 billion VND
Defendant Pham Thi Lung pretended to be a police officer of Ca Mau province to defraud many people of more than 1 billion VND.
On April 22, the Investigation Police Agency of Ca Mau Province prosecuted and detained Pham Thi Lung (34 years old, residing in An Xuyen Commune, Ca Mau City) for 4 months to investigate the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

According to the initial investigation, in 2016, the defendant Lung met a woman in Ca Mau. At that time, the defendant Lung introduced himself as Pham Kim Lien, working at the Ca Mau Provincial Police.
To gain the woman’s trust, the defendant Lung sent a photo of himself in People’s Security uniform, with the rank of lieutenant, with a name tag and number. After seeing that the woman trusted him, the defendant Lung asked to borrow money from the victim to solve personal matters.
Using this trick, defendant Lung defrauded many people in Ca Mau province, appropriating more than 1 billion VND./.
