Caught police lieutenant accepting 50 million bribe from driver
An environmental police lieutenant of Bien Hoa City Police was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of 50 million VND from a tanker driver transporting septic tank waste.
On December 14, a source from Dong Nai Provincial Police confirmed that the Department of Investigation of Crimes on Economic Order and Position (PC46) of the provincial police caught Lieutenant T. red-handed receiving a bribe of 50 million VND from a tanker truck driver.
Lieutenant T. works at the Environmental Crime Prevention Police Team of Bien Hoa City Police. Currently, PC46 has issued a decision to temporarily detain Lieutenant T.
According to the source, Lieutenant T's group had previously discovered a tanker truck carrying septic tank waste illegally dumping into the environment, so they temporarily impounded the vehicle.
Afterwards, the tanker driver contacted Lieutenant T. to ask for forgiveness, but T. demanded to "cut in half" the fine at 100 million VND.
After many contacts and negotiations, Lieutenant T. agreed to go to a seafood restaurant on Vo Thi Sau Street, Bien Hoa City to get the money.
When the tanker driver gave Lieutenant T. 50 million VND, he was caught red-handed by PC46.
