Temporarily detained 1 forest ranger for illegally transporting and trading forest products
During his time working at the Nam Dong District Forest Protection Department, Son purchased precious wood illegally exploited by some local people. Son then took his car, hired a driver, and transported it to sell in several locations, including Hue City.
On January 11, a source said that Nam Dong District Police (Thua Thien Hue) had just issued an order to temporarily detain Tran Viet The Son (born in 1995, residing in Huong Xuan Commune, Nam Dong District), an officer working at Nam Dong District Forest Protection Department, for the act of illegally transporting and trading forest products.
Initial investigation showed that while working at Nam Dong District Forest Protection Department, Son purchased precious wood illegally exploited by some local people.
Son then took his car and hired a driver to transport the wood to several locations, including Hue City. Nam Dong District Police conducted a search and seized 3 cubic meters of kieng wood and a pickup truck as evidence and related vehicles of the case.
Previously, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thua Thien Hue decided to transfer civil servant Tran Viet The Son from the Nam Dong District Forest Protection Department to a new unit, but in early January 2024, there was a decision to revoke it because Son was under investigation and verification by the Police Agency.
According to Mr. Hoang Van Chuc, Head of Nam Dong District Forest Protection Department, around mid-December 2023, Son was invited by the Police Department to work because of his involvement in the illegal transportation of forest products. Mr. Son has been working at Nam Dong District Forest Protection Department since 2022.
Currently, the case is being further investigated by the Nam Dong District Police Department.
