Mr. Hien: 'At this time, I am not suitable for the position of VFF President'

Considered one of the most promising candidates for the position of President of the 8th term of VFF, but answering the press after the match between Hanoi and Long An yesterday (October 1), Mr. Do Quang Hien (Mr. Hien) affirmed that he is not a suitable person for the position of President of the VFF, even as a candidate.

Mr. Hien said: “I would like to confirm right away that I am not a candidate for the position of VFF President in the next term. My work is too busy, not allowing me to take on this position. My point of view is very clear, if I accept, I must do my best, give my best, and contribute to the maximum. Once I see that I am not capable of contributing to the maximum, I should not accept. At this time, I am not suitable for the position of VFF President.”

Although he did not accept the invitation to run for the position of VFF President in the 8th term, Mr. Hien affirmed that he has been and is fully supporting Vietnamese football. Mr. Hien shared: "I cannot directly do football, but football flows in my blood, so when I have the opportunity, I will definitely support Vietnamese football to the fullest, unconditionally."

Mr. Hien is not exaggerating when he says that “football flows in my blood”, because when commenting on Vietnamese football after the failure at the 29th SEA Games, Mr. Hien gave an analysis like a true expert: “We talk about the national team but we also have to talk about the youth football foundation. With Vietnamese football at this time, demanding high achievements for the teams is very difficult.

We need to know the strength of the national team. In my opinion, we should invest more in sports, nutrition, and physical fitness for the youth. After 3 to 5 years, our national team will be able to compete with Thai football, let alone reach the continental level."

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh, President of SLNA Club and also a member of the Executive Committee of VFF term VII, nominated Hien for the position of President of VFF term VIII.

Explaining his choice, Mr. Thanh said: “Mr. Hien has this advantage. He is a person who is passionate about football because he spends more than 300 billion VND each year to sponsor football teams, and he has been doing so for about 10 years. A person who is passionate about football does that. As for other aspects, we have to consider them comprehensively, I do not affirm anyone. The thing is, he is a person who is passionate and dares to spend money to do football for a long time.”
