10 year old girl pregnant, rapist sentenced to life in prison

A "bluebeard" in the West has just received a life sentence for repeatedly committing depraved acts that led to the pregnancy of a 10-year-old girl.

Today, the People's Court of Vinh Long province held the first instance trial of Huynh Thanh Trung (38 years old, residing in My Thuan commune, Binh Tan district, Vinh Long) for child rape.

Defendant Trung was determined to have committed depraved acts many times, causing Hang (10 years old, 3rd grade student, girl's name has been changed) to become pregnant.

Taking advantage of the situation, at around 6 p.m. on March 23, Trung had the intention of committing a depraved act with the girl. Trung walked to Hang's house and discovered the 10-year-old girl lying on the bed watching TV, so he used force to drag the child into the bedroom to commit the depraved act. He then quickly left the scene. According to the indictment, because her mother and grandmother worked for hire in Ho Chi Minh City, Hang lived with her grandfather in My Thuan commune, Binh Tan district, Vinh Long. Every day, Hang's grandfather also worked for hire, so the girl was home alone.

On March 24, Hang called her biological mother, Thao (name changed), to say that her period was one month late.

At this time, Ms. Thao suspected that something was wrong, so she asked her biological mother to go back to her hometown to visit Hang. Hang's grandmother returned home and discovered that her granddaughter's body showed signs of pregnancy, so she bought a pregnancy test. The results showed that Hang was pregnant. The 10-year-old girl recounted the incident of being repeatedly abused by Trung.

The ultrasound results at that time showed that Hang was 4.5 weeks pregnant. The incident was reported to the police. While the police were investigating, Trung suddenly drank pesticide to commit suicide but was discovered and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

On March 31, the police initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Trung for "Raping a child". During the process of working with the police, Trung confessed that he had previously abused Hang three times.

In court, Trung admitted his crime, but the defendant did not confirm whether Hang's fetus was his or not. The victim's representative requested the court to try the defendant according to the law and requested compensation to the victim's family of more than 154 million VND for mental and health damages, medical expenses, etc.

The representative of the People's Procuracy said that the defendant Trung's behavior was extremely serious and dangerous. Just because of personal desire, the defendant sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl with the aggravating circumstance of committing the crime multiple times, resulting in the victim becoming pregnant, and the defendant needs to be isolated from society.

Therefore, the prosecutor proposed a life sentence for the defendant for child rape.

The panel sentenced the defendant Trung to life in prison and ordered him to compensate the victim's family more than 100 million VND.
