The baby girl cut the umbilical cord herself and welcomed her baby brother into the world with overwhelming emotions of happiness.

Kelsey Davis of Arizona (USA) was pregnant with her second child but miscarried shortly after (in 2013). At that time, Brooke Curtis, the eldest daughter of Kelsey and her husband, was very sad. After the first miscarriage, Kelsey had two more failures. Shortly after, she became pregnant again and happily announced to her daughter that she was going to be a big sister. Kelsey bought Brooke a doll to practice taking care of the baby.

"Brooke was so excited but every now and then she would ask, 'What if the baby dies?' We had to reassure her that everything was in God's hands and we needed to keep our faith in him," Kelsey recalled.

Finally, in January 2016, Brooke's sister, Ellie, was born. Brooke was 6 years old that year.

"My miscarriages and journey to having a baby were quite difficult. When Brooke found out her mother was pregnant with Summer, she always had very concerned questions and I'm sure we all felt the same anxiety as her," Kelsey said.

As her mother's due date approached, Brooke wanted to witness the birth of Summer. Brooke was in the delivery room when Ellie was born. And this time, she wanted to be there when her mother gave birth.

"The midwife said that not only would Brooke be able to go into the delivery room, but she would also be able to cut the umbilical cord. Brooke would even help deliver her baby. And that's exactly what she did," Kelsey said.

Baby Summer was born last month. The first time Brooke saw Summer, she cried tears of joy.

"Brooke has a big heart. Looking at the photos capturing Brooke's moments in the delivery room, you can see that she is a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul. Being a big sister is Brooke's natural instinct. She knows how to love and care for others," Kelsey said.

"I think there's a really strong bond between us. Now I want to be a midwife. Cutting the umbilical cord is such an exciting feeling and I'm really happy to be there with my parents,"Today ParentsBrooke shares her feelings about being in her mother's delivery room.

Brooke helps her mother look after her two younger siblings, Ellie, 2, and Summer, 5 weeks old.
