2-year-old boy swept away by flood water in Thanh Chuong
(Baonghean.vn) - Nguyen Van S. in Phuong Hoang hamlet, Thanh Lam commune (Thanh Chuong, Nghe An) was swept away by the water while playing with his sister in front of his house.
At around 5pm on October 16, S (2 years old) and her 4 year old sister were playing in front of their house. Next to their house there is an irrigation canal. Due to heavy rain for many days, the water level rose very high.

While playing, S accidentally stepped on her foot and was swept away by the water. Because her older sister was still young, she did not understand what happened to her younger sibling.
An hour later, when the mother called the two sisters in for dinner but did not see her son, she panicked and went looking for him. S.'s body was later found about 1km from the house.
Previously, on the morning of October 16, a man living in the US, while returning to his wife's hometown in Nam Dan district, Nghe An to take care of his newborn wife, was also struck by lightning and died while fishing in the rain.
