Nghe An General Friendship Hospital performed endoscopic surgery to remove blood clots and save the life of a patient with cerebral hemorrhage.
Recently, Nghe An General Hospital saved the life of a patient with a brain hemorrhage thanks to endoscopic surgery to remove the hematoma. This is an advanced surgical method that leaves no sequelae.
Recently, the Department of Spinal Neurosurgery,Nghe An General Friendship Hospitaladmitted a 70-year-old male patient, residing in Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province. The patient was admitted in a coma due to spontaneous cerebral hemorrhage, caused by high blood pressure.
Previously, the patient had a history of high blood pressure but did not take regular treatment. When he experienced generalized convulsions and left hemiplegia, he was given emergency treatment at Ha Tinh Provincial Hospital and then transferred toNghe An General Friendship Hospital.

On February 23, the patient was admitted to the Emergency Department. Through examination and paraclinical tests such as brain CT scan, cerebral angiography, blood tests, etc., doctors determined that the patient had a cerebral hemorrhage in the left temporal region with a large hematoma causing severe compression.
Faced with the patient’s critical condition, the medical team at Nghe An General Hospital decided to perform endoscopic surgery to remove the hematoma, relieve pressure and preserve brain function. The surgery lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes and achieved good results, with the hematoma being almost completely removed.
After surgery, the patient was monitored in the Intensive Care Unit. After only 24 hours, his consciousness improved significantly. On the third day, the patient was alert, communicated well, and showed no signs of localized nerve paralysis. After 10 days, the patient recovered well, was discharged from the hospital, and was able to live and walk normally.

According to Master, Doctor Nguyen Hong Viet - Department of Spinal Neurosurgery, Nghe An General Hospital: "Endoscopic surgery to remove hematoma is a minimally invasive method, helping to minimize damage to healthy brain tissue, shorten recovery time and improve prognosis for patients with cerebral hemorrhage.
Currently, in Nghe An and neighboring areas, this technique has only been deployed at Nghe An General Hospital and has brought positive results to many patients. When suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage, if not intervened promptly, the patient will face the risk of death or irreversible disability."
Endoscopic hematoma removal surgery is one of the new techniques routinely performed at the Department of Spinal Neurosurgery, bringing a high success rate. In addition, the unit also deploys many other advanced methods such as microsurgery to remove brain tumors at the skull base, surgery to treat aneurysms, and endoscopic surgery to remove spinal discs.
The success of this surgery once again affirms the important role of endoscopic techniques in treating dangerous neurological diseases.
