Nghe An Northwest Hospital: 1 week received 6 cases of dengue fever

(Baonghean.vn) - For the past week, Nghe An Northwestern Regional General Hospital has received and treated 6 cases of dengue fever, including 1 severe case that had to be transferred to a higher level for treatment.

The patients admitted and treated for dengue fever at this hospital are all people returning from epidemic areas such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The dengue fever cases are all young people studying at universities.

Tran Van Duc from Nghia Hieu Commune, Nghia Dan District said he is currently a student at Hanoi Banking University. During the summer vacation, he returned to his hometown to play. As soon as he got home, he suddenly had red spots and a fever. His family took him to the hospital for examination and found out that he had dengue fever and had to stay in the hospital for treatment. Several days have passed but he is still very tired.

Also a student at a university in Hanoi, Tran Kim Long in Dong Hai hamlet, Dong Hieu commune, Thai Hoa town has been hospitalized for a week with symptoms such as fever, headache, aching limbs and red spots. After treatment, Long's illness has improved, but according to Mrs. Phuong - Long's mother, "His fever has gone down but the rash is still there. Usually, after the fever goes down, the fever can come back, so I hope the doctors will continue to treat him completely."

Since the beginning of the year, Nghe An Northwest Regional General Hospital has received over 10 cases of dengue fever. Among them, there are serious patients who had to be transferred to higher levels.

Currently, there has been no outbreak of dengue fever in Thai Hoa town, but given the current complicated developments of the disease, the town's medical center is conducting surveys to collect samples for testing, while preparing supplies, equipment, and providing guidance to village health workers and local people on disease prevention and control.
