(Baonghean.vn) - On January 5, the leader of Economic - Defense Group 4 (Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son) said that the infirmary successfully delivered a transversely-positioned baby. This was a difficult birth because according to medical documents, these cases are very rare (accounting for only 1%).

Pregnant woman Ha Y Dia, born in 2003, from Tay Son commune (Ky Son), married to Ka Tren village, Na Ngoi commune (Ky Son), was taken to the infirmary of Economic-Defense Group 4 at 1:00 a.m. today, in a state of fatigue and severe abdominal pain.

Through examination and ultrasound of the pregnant woman, the doctors diagnosed that the pregnancy was 39 weeks and 2 days, the pregnant woman showed signs of labor and this was a difficult birth because the fetus was in a transverse position.

This is Dia's second pregnancy. Given the condition of the mother, the team led by Dr. Nguyen Cong Minh and two nurses Nguyen Van Kien and Nguyen Mai Thuy consulted and used techniques to correct and rotate the fetus. At 3:00 a.m. the same day, the mother successfully gave birth to a baby boy weighing 3.8 kg. Currently, the health of mother and baby is stable and is being monitored.

According to doctors, transverse fetal position is rare but is a rare case (only 1%) but complicated and dangerous. Pregnant women with transverse fetal position will have difficulty giving birth naturally and most will be assigned a cesarean section to ensure the safety of both mother and child. However, because the pregnant woman was admitted to the infirmary while showing signs of labor, the equipment could not safely meet the requirements for cesarean section, so doctors were forced to use the method of internal cesarean section.

This method is performed when the cervix is already open and the uterus has no previous surgical scars. The procedure is performed by inserting a hand into the uterine cavity and turning the transverse position into a breech position, but vaginal delivery will still be very difficult.

Transverse fetal position is the case where the body part such as the back, ribs, abdomen... of the fetus is presented in front of the waist, blocking the cervix because it can only rotate halfway, so it cannot be born through the vagina and must be delivered by cesarean section. This is a very rare type of fetal position, accounting for only 1% of all types.fetal positionWhen the fetus is full term, a cesarean section is needed to actively remove the fetus.
