Fined $500 for not eating an apple
A female resident of the US state of Colorado was fined several hundred dollars for carrying just one undeclared apple, - as reported by UPI.
Crystal Tadlock was flying from Paris to Denver on Delta. During the flight, passengers were served a meal and the American woman put an apple from her lunch in her bag, intending to eat it later.

But at the airport in her hometown, she was greeted with an unpleasant surprise. The customs officer asked if her trip to France had been expensive. Then, after she said it had been, he informed her that it was now going to be even more expensive. It turned out that Tadlock had not declared the apple, and she had to pay a $500 fine.
The American complained that airline representatives should have informed passengers that they needed to finish their lunch before crossing the border. Delta officials responded simply that passengers had to obey the law.
Under US customs law, all food is required to be declared on a customs declaration.
