Provincial Party Secretary: Planning the right strategy, seizing new opportunities to develop Nghi Loc
(Baonghean.vn) - After 550 years of development, Nghi Loc now has new opportunities to accelerate its development.
On the evening of April 27, Nghi Loc district held a ceremony to celebrate the 550th anniversary of its founding (1469 - 2019) and the 125th anniversary of the name Nghi Loc district (1894 - 2019).
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister; Le Thi Thuy - Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Commission.

"Land of talented people"
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Chairman of Nghi Loc District People's Committee, after thousands of years of history, with changes in administrative boundaries and names, in 1469, King Le Thanh Tong determined the map of the whole country, in which Chan Phuc district was clearly identified as belonging to Duc Quang prefecture, Nghe An province.
After 550 years of formation, construction and development, from the names: Duong Thanh, Duong Toai, Pho Duong, Tan Phuc, Nghi Chan, Chan Phuc, Chan Loc, until the reign of King Thanh Thai (1894), this locality was changed to Nghi Loc.
In 1469, Chan Phuc district was a large area, including the area of Cua Lo and Vinh towns today. Up to now, after many divisions, some communes merged into Vinh city and Cua Lo town, Nghi Loc currently has 30 administrative units with an area of 34,770 hectares, population of 205,850 people.

Historically, Nghi Loc land became the "fence", defense line, base... of many famous generals of the dynasties: Tien Le, Ly, Tran, Hau Le to Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue and during the Can Vuong movement, many places in Nghi Loc land were the gathering place of patriotic scholars.
“Nghi Loc is very proud to be a homeland with a rich tradition of patriotism and revolution. Brave and resilient in the revolutionary struggle. Diligent and creative in production; simple and sincere in life,” said the Chairman of Nghi Loc District People’s Committee at the ceremony.

With great achievements in the two resistance wars and the construction of socialism, Nghi Loc district was awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the President. The country is at peace, Nghi Loc people are devoting themselves to the process of building their homeland with the motto of creative labor, diligent study, and open integration, which are the basic endogenous strengths that make their homeland develop day by day.
Up to now, in the new era, Nghi Loc has 42 people with the titles of professor, associate professor, over 100 people with doctoral degrees, 21 people are excellent teachers, doctors, artists, 16 people have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and Hero of Labor. Need to clearly identify potential
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, over the past years, Nghi Loc has always maintained a growth rate of 12 - 13%. The proportion of industry and services increased from 69% in 2010 to 82% in 2018, agriculture from 31% to 18%. Average income per capita reached 44 million VND/year.
“We are proud to be a heroic and cultural land, the homeland of many generations of elites. We have the right to be proud of the cultural values that have been accumulated and developed. We are proud of the glorious achievements that our ancestors have won in the resistance wars against invaders. We are excited about the outstanding achievements that the Party and the people have strived to achieve in the cause of innovation. We are excited about the children of our homeland, studying, working and living in all parts of the country and abroad, who have made many contributions to the development of our homeland…”.

Speaking at the ceremony, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh said that Nghi Loc is considered a land of talented people, with a long history. With diverse terrain and special geographical location, Nghi Loc has always held an important position in national defense and security. History has tempered Nghi Loc people with qualities such as studiousness, diligence, hard work, a spirit of defending justice, and the will to sacrifice oneself for the greater good of independence and freedom...

Praising and congratulating the district's achievements, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that after 550 years of development, Nghi Loc today is facing many new opportunities. Therefore, the district needs to clearly identify its potential strengths to plan the right development direction and strategy.
