Chau Thuan is a mountainous commune with 801 households living in 4 villages. The people's livelihood is mainly agricultural production. The Party Committee has 8 Party cells, including 4 village Party cells, 4 agency Party cells with 236 Party members and 10 probationary Party members.

Reporting to the Provincial Party Secretary and the working delegation, Comrade Lu Thi Mai - Party Secretary of Chau Thuan commune, Quy Chau district said: Over the past year, cadres, party members and people of Chau Thuan commune have strived to overcome many difficulties and achieved positive results.

In 2022, the total production value in the commune is estimated to reach 91 billion VND, exceeding the plan by 4%. The total food output reached over 1,400 tons, exceeding the plan by 3%. The total herd of buffaloes and cows is quite large, over 2,500 heads.

Forest management, protection, afforestation, and mineral exploitation have been strengthened, preventing illegal exploitation. New rural construction has been actively implemented, and Chau Thuan has achieved 14/19 criteria so far.

In particular, culture and society are taken care of, hunger eradication and poverty reduction are given attention. The rate of cultural households reaches 83.6%, maintaining the title of Cultural Village in 4 villages.

Social security policies are implemented promptly and to the right target. National defense and security are maintained. The spirit of solidarity and unity within the Party and among the people is promoted.

Talking to leaders, cadres, soldiers and people of the commune, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy expressed his joy when returning to Quy Chau district and Chau Thuan commune, meeting people to visit and give gifts on the occasion of Tet; wishing the leaders of the district and commune and especially the people of Chau Thuan commune a new year of health, happiness, peace and prosperity.

Sharing his feelings after a long time returning to Chau Thuan, the head of the Provincial Party Committee noted many changes in the commune, especially in infrastructure, and people's lives have also improved.

The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed: Hunger eradication and poverty reduction is a major, consistent policy of the Party and State and is regularly implemented, becoming one of the National Target Programs. Along with that, the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period has also been issued. This clearly demonstrates the Party and State's attention to mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas and strongly promotes hunger eradication and poverty reduction.

Nghe An province, Quy Chau district is focusing on implementing this major policy, associated with social security work, taking care of people with meritorious services, poor households, disadvantaged households, and vulnerable households. In particular, with the morality of drinking water remembering its source, mutual love and mutual assistance of our nation, especially on the occasion of Tet, Spring comes, all classes of people, Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Fronts and socio-political organizations... organize many activities towards the poor, so that no one is left behind, everyone has a warm Tet.

Acknowledging the results of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and taking care of poor and near-poor households of Chau Thuan commune; however, the commune is still a poor commune, with 330 poor households (accounting for 41.2%), 195 near-poor households (accounting for 24.3%), the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that poverty reduction is one of the important tasks of the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and mass organizations of the commune.

Comrade Thai Thanh Quy hopes that the commune will continue to promote the achieved results, have orientations to help people escape poverty, especially focusing on household economy, implementing effective integrated programs; at the same time, encourage people to seek and learn from experiences in the district, the province and other provinces to help cultivate and produce more effectively, trade better to develop.

Talking with poor households, the head of the Provincial Party Committee hopes that people will try to be diligent, enthusiastic, and hard-working, along with the connected infrastructure conditions, associated with the transfer of science and technology into production to soon escape poverty.

Currently, both he and his wife are past working age, facing economic difficulties, and the family is living in a temporary house; the family of Mr. Luong Xuan Truong (born in 1943), a war invalid and an Agent Orange victim, in Chieng Nong village; and the family of Mr. Luong Van Hoa (born in 1976) in Tham Men village, a prestigious person, with 1 child with a particularly severe disability and 1 child studying at university.
