Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary received the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam

(Baonghean.vn) - The meeting is an opportunity to promote the development of cooperative relations between Nghe An and Australia.

On the afternoon of March 21, Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council received Mr. Andrew Goledznowski - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Vietnam and his wife Lyn Allan; and the delegation who are on a working visit to Nghe An.

Attending the meeting were comrades: Pham Trong Hoang - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chief of the Provincial Party Office; Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Le Van Luong - Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union.

Australia was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam immediately after the Paris Agreement was signed in 1973. 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relations (February 26, 1973 - February 26, 2023).

Over the past five decades, the relationship between the two countries has developed sustainably and rapidly, making many important marks. In 2009, the two countries established a Comprehensive Partnership, and in 2018, the two countries adopted a Joint Statement on the establishment of a Strategic Partnership. Today, Vietnam and Australia have become trusted partners of each other both bilaterally and multilaterally.

In that common development, the cooperative relationship between Nghe An and Australian partners has improved a lot, especially in the fields of investment, trade and education.

Currently, Nghe An has 2 investment projects from Australia in the field of animal feed production and aquaculture production, with a total registered capital of 16.5 million USD. In 2022, exports to the Australian market will be worth 5.8 million USD and imports will be worth 6.7 million USD.

To promote investment and trade turnover between the two sides, in recent years, Nghe An has organized a number of investment promotion seminars in Melbourne, Victoria; Adelaide, South Australia; and Sydney, New South Wales.

In 2018, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and the South Australian State Development Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote exchange and cooperation in education and vocational training.

Up to now, Vinh University has 14 staff members studying and training in Australia, mainly focusing on the majors of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Foreign Languages.

Pleased to welcome Ambassador Andrew Goledznowski and his wife, along with the delegation to visit and work in Nghe An province, especially at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy shared that this shows the Ambassador's good feelings towards Nghe An province. The province sees this as an opportunity to promote the development of cooperative relations between Nghe An and Australia.

Introducing some characteristics of natural and social conditions, the economy and cooperation potentials, investment attraction orientation of the province in general; reviewing the cooperation results between Nghe An and Australian partners in particular, the head of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee assessed that although there have been some improvements, the results are still limited.

During the Ambassador's visit to Nghe An province, in order to develop a cooperative relationship commensurate with the great potential of both sides, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy suggested that Mr. Andrew Goledznowski and the Australian Embassy create a bridge to introduce businesses to learn about and invest in Nghe An province, especially in areas such as: High-tech industry; marine economy, coastal urban areas; logistics, finance - banking; training...

Along with that, Nghe An hopes that the Ambassador will continue to pay attention to promoting educational cooperation programs, such as supporting each other in university training programs, research and advanced training models.

Requesting the Ambassador to pay attention and support the successful implementation of TH Group's investment project in Australia, the head of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee shared: Businesswoman Thai Huong - Chairman of TH Group's Strategy Council is a native of Nghe An. Before expanding to develop as it is now, she established a career and developed production and business in the province; therefore, Nghe An considers the cooperation and investment relationship of TH Group in Australia as a symbol of cooperation between Nghe An and Australia.

Mr. Andrew Goledznowski shared his good impressions when visiting Nghe An, thanked the provincial leaders for their warm welcome and agreed with the proposals of Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy.

In particular, regarding investment attraction, the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam said that currently, investors from this country are increasingly interested in the Vietnamese market, especially in areas such as: Technology, energy, especially green energy.

Mr. Andrew Goledznowski said he would introduce the opportunities and potential of Nghe An to investors in upcoming meetings; at the same time, he expressed his strong support for the investment project of TH Group in Australia. “The goal of the Australian Government is to ensure success and profit for investors,” the Ambassador emphasized.

Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy thanked Ambassador Andrew Goledznowski and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam for their attention and support; hoping that through this meeting, the connection between the two sides will become more frequent, thereby continuing to exchange and build more extensive coordination and cooperation programs.
