Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy and his delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to officers and soldiers of Mon Son Border Guard Station. The unit is tasked with protecting and managing 36.5 km of national border with Laos and 7 border markers.
Over the past year, officers and soldiers of the Station have synchronously and effectively deployed border protection measures, well controlled the situation at the border and within the border, maintained political security, order, social safety and prevented and fought crimes.

In particular, the Station has conducted many joint patrols, while maintaining the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general and between Nghe An - Bolikhamxay, Con Cuong - Xay Cham Pon in particular, creating a favorable environment for people on both sides of the border to visit relatives and do business.
In addition, with their responsibility and prestige, the officers and soldiers of Mon Son Border Guard Station have promoted their core role in mobilizing the masses to implement the Party's policies and the State's laws, sponsored 7 "adopted border guards"; donated dozens of gifts and hundreds of working days to help people in the area. Thereby, contributing to building a strong Party and grassroots government.
Informing about some outstanding results of the province in the past year, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy emphasized that in the general achievements of the province, there are contributions from the armed forces, including Mon Son Border Guard Station.

Highly appreciating and acknowledging the performance results of the Mon Son Border Guard Station, the head of the Provincial Party Committee also emphasized a number of key tasks for the Station's officers and soldiers in 2022.
First of all, the unit's primary and foremost task is to continue to heighten vigilance; control the internal and external situation well, and proactively grasp the local situation.
Along with that, the Station also needs to continue supporting Mon Son commune in building a strong Party organization and grassroots government, ensuring security and order, keeping the area peaceful, developing the socio-economy; especially needing to take care of the people's lives through guiding the construction and development of economic models; helping children study; ensuring security and order in Mon Son area.

The Border Guard Station also needs to continue to proactively and actively maintain and develop friendly relations with Laos, maintain bilateral patrol activities, contribute to keeping the border peaceful; and fight against all types of crimes, especially drug crimes.
As the Lunar New Year of the Tiger is approaching, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy sent New Year greetings to the officers and soldiers of the Station; at the same time, noted that the unit needs to well implement the plan to be on duty during Tet and welcome Tet for officers, soldiers and people in the area.
Next, at the headquarters of Mon Son commune, the Provincial Party Secretary listened to a report on the socio-economic development, national defense and security, Party building of the locality, as well as the work of taking care of the people during Tet.

Mon Son is a mountainous, border commune, still facing many difficulties in many aspects. The rate of poor households is still high, 31% (702 households), near-poor households 22%; average income per capita is still lower than the average level of the province (23.7 million VND)...
Over the past year, the cadres, party members and people of Mon Son commune have strived to overcome many difficulties and achieved positive results. The commune has achieved 12/19 criteria for new rural construction, an increase of 1 criterion compared to 2020.
In 2021, Mon Son commune attracted about 12,000 tourists to visit; successfully organized 6 Muong Qua market sessions with more than 5,000 visitors.
Culture and society are taken care of, hunger eradication and poverty reduction are given attention. Covid-19 prevention and control work is effectively directed. Currently, there are no community Covid-19 infections in the area.

Acknowledging the efforts and results the commune has achieved, and sharing the difficulties of the locality, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy assessed that Mon Son commune has taken the right approach to develop tourism and services on the basis of promoting the strengths of the locality.
In the coming time, before the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic that have deeply impacted many aspects of socio-economic life, comrade Thai Thanh Quy suggested that the commune should continue to take care of people's lives, create livelihoods, and improve the lives of people in the area.
Based on economic models, communes need to re-evaluate to select, direct, monitor, and assign specific tasks; at the same time, mobilize and propagate people to replicate effective economic models in the fields of tourism, services, agriculture, etc.
Along with people's livelihood, we must take care of people's knowledge, education, and focus on primary health care for the people; preserve and promote the traditional cultural values and fine history of ethnic groups.

Based on the analysis and assessment of all aspects of Mon Son commune's conditions, the Provincial Party Secretary suggested that Con Cuong district coordinate with relevant departments and branches of the province to build Mon Son commune into a bright spot in terms of economy and culture among 27 border communes in the whole province.
For the above two tasks to be effective, the head of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized that the political system of Mon Son commune must be really strong. To do so, first of all, the Party Executive Committee and the Standing Committee must be united, share, and be concerned with work, working style, and working methods that are scientific, effective, and close to reality and the people.
In the immediate future, the commune needs to have a good plan to organize a joyful and safe Spring Festival for the people, associated with the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic. Talking with poor households, the Provincial Party Secretary hopes that people with the ability to work should make efforts to escape poverty.

Also in Mon Son commune, comrade Thai Thanh Quy visited and wished a Happy New Year to the family of Mr. Ha Van Canh, born in 1954 in Tan Son village. Mr. Canh is currently the village chief.
Giving gifts and New Year wishes to Mr. Canh's family, the Provincial Party Secretary hoped that he would continue to promote his role as a prestigious person in the community to mobilize people to develop the economy, improve their lives, and build new rural areas.
Also in Mon Son commune, comrade Thai Thanh Quy and the delegation visited and gave gifts to encourage the family of Mrs. Ha Thi Quanh in Tan Son village, a particularly poor household. She is currently 89 years old, in poor health, living with her daughter born in 1978 with mental illness and a grandchild born in 2000. The delegation also visited and wished a happy new year to the family of Mr. Luong Van Thuy, a 4/4 war invalid, who was imprisoned by the enemy and resides in Cang village. Mr. Thuy had a stroke and had difficulty walking.
On this occasion, the Provincial Party Secretary presented 2,000 gifts worth 1 billion VND to Con Cuong district and 100 gifts worth 50 million VND to Mon Son commune from the Nghe An Province Fund for the Poor; presented 200 million VND from socialized sources for Con Cuong district to take care of the poor during Tet. The Provincial Party Secretary and his delegation also directly presented Tet gifts to 20 poor households at the Mon Son commune headquarters.
