'The Politburo once again affirms its determination to clean up cadres'
By clearly defining title standards and evaluation criteria, the Politburo once again affirms its strong determination to clean up the cadre team.
Referring to the Politburo's new regulations on title standards and criteria for evaluating cadres under the management of the Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of the Institute of Party Building, said that this is a continuation and concretization of cadre standards that were issued 20 years ago.

The regulation was issued at a time when our Party is urgently overcoming shortcomings that have appeared recently, when many values have been abused, causing public outrage.
These regulations will be the basis and foundation for the appointment and promotion of leaders in the coming terms. Although it is not possible to provide a complete and detailed set of regulations, some strict and very necessary regulations have been "named". In the spirit of doing and perfecting at the same time, the Party will continue to add necessary regulations.
A special point in this regulation has been emphasized by the Politburo, which is that "cadres under the management of the Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat must be cadres who absolutely do not have ambitions for power."
To clarify this concept, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan pointed out that the ambition for power of officials is shown through the following manifestations: officials concealing their shortcomings; the irresponsibility of those working in personnel work without fully verifying; dishonest declarations to "climb higher and dig deeper"; disregarding all principles, rules, and shortcomings to beautify and praise a person, helping them to get through all the steps in the process, causing the incorrect arrangement of officials to cause harm to the country and the nation.
Mr. Tuan also said that after high-ranking officials, it will certainly be done with lower-ranking officials. However, the current law on civil servants has quite clear regulations for officials and civil servants and there is enough basis for handling. It is just that the implementation has not been done well in the past.
The problem here is that we need to educate more, inform and warn more, public opinion must condemn more strongly, and the Central Government must even increase disciplinary action to combine many measures to have a better team of cadres to serve the people.

Issued in the context of our Party being in a fierce "campaign" against corruption and moral degradation with a series of high-ranking officials being disciplined, this regulation can be seen as another determination of the Politburo in resolutely handling individuals who commit violations, especially high-ranking officials.
This is proof to public opinion that handling erring officials is no longer “from the shoulders down”. This regulation is not only aimed at senior officials but is also a reminder to lower-level officials to look to their superiors for example and follow suit.
Mr. Ha also said that the Party's anti-corruption campaign cannot be avoided when "a large number of cadres" have caused negative influences in the Party due to manifestations such as degradation of moral qualities and lifestyle.
Only by taking strong and decisive action can the Party regain the people's trust and clean up its cadres. Cadres are servants of the people and cannot "enrich themselves" and not care about serving the people./.
