Ministry of Education and Training clarifies testing and evaluation of first and second grade students
If due to conditions, students cannot attend school in person, as is happening in many localities recently, they can be tested and assessed online.
That is the affirmation of Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do when clarifying the content of Document No. 5766/BGDĐT-GDTT issued on December 13, aiming to guide the organization of teaching and assessment of primary school students.General education programin accordance with the progress of the Covid-19 epidemic.
According to Mr. Do, in localities where students cannot go to school due to the epidemic, schools organize regular and periodic assessments for students online. For areas that have fully met the requirements for epidemic prevention and control, students can go to school, schools urgently review and consolidate knowledge for students and conduct regular and periodic assessments in person.

Mr. Do also said that for first and second graders who are studying via television, their learning process lacks interaction, and the school and teachers have not yet accurately assessed how much knowledge they have acquired. Therefore, under the conditions allowed, it is necessary to create maximum conditions for students to go to school to consolidate knowledge and be guided to take periodic tests directly. For grades 3, 4, and 5, students basically have the awareness and skills to study and take periodic tests according to the characteristics of each subject in the learning process from previous years.
“The Ministry of Education and Training’s viewpoint is that depending on the actual conditions in localities, the departments and education offices will direct schools to guide periodic testing and assessment in direct or online forms. At the same time, localities can flexibly adjust the testing time to suit the implementation plan of this school year, the new school year plan and the epidemic situation in the area,” Mr. Do said.
