Ministry of Education requires instructing students not to write or draw in textbooks
The Minister of Education and Training has just signed a directive on September 24 requiring improving the effectiveness of textbook use in schools.
According to statistics released by the education sector, the rate of textbook reuse is only 35%, although the Ministry has requested that general education institutions and teachers guide students in using textbooks, consciously preserving them, and not writing or drawing on them for long-term use.

To improve the efficiency of use and increase the rate of textbooks used multiple times, the Ministry of Education and Training requires Directors of Departments of Education and Training to direct local educational institutions to thoroughly educate each manager, teacher, and student on preserving textbooks for long-term use and reuse; instruct students to study textbooks to carry out learning activities and record learning results in notebooks, not to write or draw in these books.
In addition, the directive also stated: The Department of Education and Training directed the strengthening of inspection, supervision and strict handling of cases where managers and teachers violate regulations on management and use of reference publications in educational institutions, causing students to buy too many reference publications but use them ineffectively, causing waste.
The Minister of Education and Training also requested the Vietnam Education Publishing House to review and specifically evaluate the printing and distribution of current textbooks, in order to have a plan to edit the current textbook drafts to minimize students writing in textbooks during the learning process.
