Russian Foreign Ministry warns US about military scenario in Venezuela
Russia warned "hidden actors" in the United States about the military scenario in Venezuela, - Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov told reporters.
He expressed concern about "US efforts to strengthen the anti-Chavez front from Latin American countries".
"This is an alarming trend. Despite the fierce confrontation, even the most critical opinions of Caracas from governments in Latin America rule out the possibility of military intervention in Venezuela's affairs," he said.
The diplomat stressed that any call for the use of force "would be a disastrous development".
"We warn hotheads in Washington about this kind of 'temptation'," Ryabkov said.
Earlier, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said that the United States allegedly tried to organize a coup in the country.
According to the Venezuelan government's statement, the US side interfered in internal affairs, using pressure and intimidation against many other countries in the region.
