Russian General Staff: 'Our patience has limits'

Russia's patience regarding the situation in Syria has its limits, not the United States, Moscow has fully fulfilled its obligations, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov stressed.

Last week, US Secretary of State John Kerry said Washington's patience with the Syrian conflict has limits.

According to General Gerasimov, Washington regularly encounters problems with Syrian "opposition" groups, which are under their control.

"From the US point of view, shelling of Syrian army positions and settlements with rocket artillery should all be considered a 'minor violation' of the ceasefire regime," General Gerasimov said. At the same time, as he noted, all corresponding responses from the Syrian army were immediately declared a "disproportionate attack" on the "opposition".

Mr. Gerasimov added that the Russian General Staff in the past 3 months has passed to the Americans the coordinates of IS and "Dzhebhat en-Nusra" (both groups are banned in Russia), but the Pentagon "cannot determine which are their opposition groups and which are the wolves of international terrorist organizations."

“As a result, terrorists in Syria are actively rebuilding their forces, and the situation is heating up again,” he concluded.
