Minister of Transport inspects progress of Cua Hoi bridge across Lam river connecting Nghe An - Ha Tinh

On the morning of February 6, comrade Nguyen Van The - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport (MOT) and his delegation went to Cua Lo town (Nghe An) to inspect and urge the implementation of the Cua Hoi bridge construction investment project.

Also going to Nghe An province were comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches.

The Cua Hoi Bridge project across the Lam River connecting Cua Lo town, Nghe An and Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh was approved by the Ministry of Transport with a total investment of VND950 billion, of which VND450 billion is from government bonds and VND500 billion from the local budget (Nghe An and Ha Tinh, each province VND250 billion). The total length of the bridge and route is 5.271 km.

At the meeting, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The heard a report on the project's progress, as well as the arrangement of local budgets of Nghe An and Ha Tinh to serve the project.

According to Project Management Board 6 of the Ministry of Transport, the project started on February 15, 2019, with a construction schedule of 18 months. To date, the value of completed volume has reached about 55% of the total construction value (VND 435/798 billion). The construction progress is meeting the general progress requirements of the project.

Currently, the government bond capital source is 450 billion VND and has been fully allocated. As for the local budget, Nghe An province has allocated more than 74/250 billion VND and by June 2020 will have allocated a total of about 200 billion VND. Meanwhile, Ha Tinh has allocated more than 47 billion VND/250 billion VND.

The Minister of Transport welcomed Project Management Board 6, contractors, and localities for actively focusing on the project and up to this point, the progress has basically been as planned.

However, according to the Minister, the upcoming workload is still large, so Project Management Board 6 needs to continue to closely direct, develop plans, and request contractors to increase human resources and equipment for construction. Components that can be constructed in 3 shifts should be implemented to speed up the project's progress.

Although very concerned about the project's progress, Minister Nguyen Van The repeatedly reminded the Project Management Board and contractors to ensure the quality and aesthetics of Cua Hoi Bridge and absolutely not to do it carelessly.

The Minister of Transport also requested Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces to continue to pay attention to timely arranging capital from the local budget to implement the project; at the same time, requested localities to regularly check and urge the project progress.

“Difficulties and problems must be reported and resolved immediately,” Minister Nguyen Van The emphasized to the leaders of Project Management Board 6 and contractors, and pointed out that the final deadline for completing the entire project is before the 2020-2025 term Party Congress of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee and Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee, scheduled to take place in October 2020.
