Regarding sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the US Secretary of Energy has strongly opposed this project. Ms. Jennifer affirmed that the US considers this project "very dangerous".
"This pipeline project transports the dirtiest natural gas in the world, and it fails to ensure safety in terms of methane emissions. This is bad for our climate," the head of the US Energy industry said.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden admitted that sanctions against Nord Stream 2 are currently counterproductive, as the project is nearing completion.
The Nord Stream 2 project envisages the construction of two gas pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year, from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany.
The project has faced fierce opposition from Ukraine and several European countries as well as the US, which is also actively exporting liquefied natural gas to the EU.
