Minister of Information and Communications requests a clear report on the release of the book 'The Failed Knight'

Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan requested the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution to urgently report in detail and clarify the reason why the book "The Retired Knight" has not yet had a decision to publish but its content has been widely disseminated and distributed.

According to a source from the Office of the Ministry of Information and Communications, recently, immediately after receiving feedback from the media regarding violations in the publication of the book "The Knight Failed to Study" published by the Literature Publishing House (the story is labeled 18+), the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution reported to the Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan about this incident.

Minister Truong Minh Tuan himself also received a letter from Nguyen Thi Hong Lien - a member of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, reflecting on the above incident.

Through initial inspection, the book “The Failed Knight” published by the Literature Publishing House has not been deposited with the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, while according to the provisions of Clause 1, Article 28 of the Publishing Law 2012, “All publications must be deposited with the state management agency for publishing activities at least 10 days before release”. At the same time, the Literature Publishing House has not yet issued a Decision to release the above book.

According to the provisions of Article 253 of the 1999 Penal Code, amended and supplemented on June 19, 2009 on the crime of disseminating obscene cultural products: “Anyone who makes, copies, circulates, transports, sells, or stores for the purpose of disseminating books, newspapers, paintings, photos, films, music, or other items of an obscene nature, or commits other acts of disseminating obscene cultural products in one of the following cases, shall be subject to a fine of 5 million to 50 million VND, non-custodial reform for up to three years, or imprisonment from six months to three years.”

Faced with the above situation, Minister Truong Minh Tuan requested the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution to urgently report in detail, clarifying the reason why the book "The Retired Knight" has not yet had a Decision to publish but its content has been widely disseminated and distributed; the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution urgently has a plan to resolve the situation, not allowing this situation to continue to occur./.
