Ministry of Culture stops Miss Universe Vietnam contest

Authorities have requested the postponement of the beauty contest until the consequences of flooding in Nha Trang - the host city - are resolved.

Afternoon of November 6, Ministry of Culture, Sports and TourismThe organizers of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 have been asked to stop all activities. The postponement of the contest was made in accordance with the Prime Minister's dispatch dated November 1 on emergency response to tropical depressions and floods.

The competition will continue when the consequences of natural disasters and floods in Nha Trang are resolved. The Ministry requests the organizing unit to proactively report to the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry before organizing the next competitions.

The semi-finals of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 on the evening of November 4 still took place despite being asked to stop.

The Department of Performing Arts has sent an inspection team to work with the competition's organizing committee.The representative of the contest organizing committee said that they are making a report as requested.

Previously, the semi-final night of the competition took place on November 4th amid storms and floods, causing public uproar.Representative bThe organizer - Mr. Tran Ngoc Nhat - saidBefore and during the semi-final night, the organizing committee received information from the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture and Sports, requesting to stop organizing entertainment activities before and during storms to focus on flood prevention.

After receiving the above information, the organizing committee canceled the activities on November 3 and the morning of November 4. By noon on November 4, the locality was no longer windy and rainy, so the semi-finals of Miss Universe Vietnam took place."We decided to continue organizing the semi-final night with an indoor stage, small scale with internal guests to ensure the schedule was licensed in advance," the organizing committee representative explained.

Previously, the Department of Performing Arts, Khanh Hoa People's Committee and Khanh Hoa Department of Culture and Sports requested to stop organizing the Miss Universe Vietnam semi-finals due to storms. However, the contest still took place.an hour late due to a power outage caused by the storm.
