Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has new female Deputy Minister

Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture Trinh Thi Thuy was appointed by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc as the new Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed a decision to appoint Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH-TT-DL) to hold the position of Deputy Minister of this ministry.

Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, for many years of the Department of Grassroots Culture, has repeatedly expressed her views on state management of festivals, especially offensive festivals.

She affirmed that festivals should not be commercialized, and at the same time requested to rectify prominent issues such as jostling, fighting, and violence, moving towards civilized behavior in traditional festivals; rectify festivals such as buffalo fighting, pig slaughter, and stealing of cakes...
