Quynh Lien Commune, Hoang Mai Town grows about 5 hectares of turnips. At harvest time, the neat rows of vegetables are always bustling with pickers.

The cycle from planting to harvesting of radish is 1 month in the off-season, and 15 days in the main season. Radish is usually sown quite densely, then people uproot and sell or transplant to new fields in rows for easy care and harvesting.

Harvested radishes are often purchased by traders at the garden. Radish gardens in Quynh Lien have a yield of about 7 quintals/sao, with a selling price of about 8,000 VND/kg of radishes and 2,000 VND/kg of radish leaves.

Next to the radish field, many other vegetables are being planted in succession. Farmers plow the land to plant vegetables next to the row of chayote plants that are about to climb the trellis. This layer of vegetables planted below will be harvested before the chayote plants cover the trellis.
