Before that, according to some witnesses, at around 5pm, T. and 3 friends from the same neighborhood went swimming at Thuy Moc swimming pool. When they arrived at the pool, T. and her friends spread out to swim along the lake. At around 5:30pm, when the friends gathered to play a game, T. was nowhere to be found.
When people shouted to each other to search, they discovered that T. had sunk to the bottom of the lake. At that time, there were hundreds of people swimming here, including adults and children. It is known that on free days, T. often comes here to swim from 5pm to 6pm.
Immediately after discovering the incident, people brought the child to shore for first aid and then took him to the district medical facility, but he died. The incident was immediately reported to Tan Tru District Police. After an autopsy, at around 10 p.m. the same day, the authorities handed over T.'s body to his family for funeral arrangements.
Present at the scene to receive his son's body, Mr. Nguyen Tan T. (T.'s father) was stunned. It seemed that he still could not believe that his son had died so suddenly. The shock was so great that he could not accept it, so when anyone asked him anything, he could only say a few words, "He's gone, he's really gone" and then fainted.
According to statistics from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An province, in just 3 years (from 2014 to 2016), there were 70 cases of children dying from drowning in the province. The main causes of drowning accidents in children are that children do not know how to swim, are not aware of the danger, so they like to play near rivers and water; adults in the family are subjective, careless and lack skills to prevent and combat drowning in children...
