Localities take action to prevent HIV/AIDS

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 1, in Quy Hop district, Nghe An Department of Health coordinated with Quy Hop District People's Committee to organize a provincial-level rally in response to the National Action Month for AIDS Prevention and Control and World HIV/AIDS Day on December 1.

The rally in response to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention at the provincial level - World HIV/AIDS Day (December 1) this year took place in Quy Hop district.

As of September 30, 2015, Nghe An had 7,924 people infected with HIV, including 5,128 AIDS patients, making it one of the six provinces and cities with the highest number of infected people in the country. The entire province has 21/21 districts, cities and towns with 438/480 communes, wards and towns that have detected people infected with HIV/AIDS. The number of new infections is increasing in the mountainous districts of the province such as: Que Phong, Tuong Duong, Quy Chau...

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Provincial People's Committee, Nghe An Department of Health, departments and branches of Quy Hop district...

Many people from all walks of life in Quy Hop district attended the ceremony.

Faced with the complicated developments of HIV infection in the community, in recent years, many government and international projects have invested in HIV prevention in Nghe An and have achieved many remarkable results. The HIV infection rate has been basically controlled.

However, HIV/AIDS prevention still faces many challenges: The number of infected people is still high, the area is large, and transportation is difficult. Communication activities in mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas are not very effective.

The art program at the ceremony carried the message that everyone should actively participate in HIV/AIDS prevention work.

The National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control has the main theme "Towards the 90-90-90 target" to advocate and communicate behavior change, expand access to prevention services, care and treatment with antiretroviral drugs for infected people.

The goal is that by 2020, 90% of people living with HIV will know their HIV status; 90% of people diagnosed with HIV will receive ARV treatment; 90% of people receiving ARV treatment will have low viral loads to maintain good health and reduce the risk of transmitting HIV to others.

Doctor Bui Dinh Long, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, prostitution and crime prevention in Nghe An province, called on all levels of government and all people to actively take action to prevent HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and prostitution.

At the ceremony, the Steering Committee for HIV/AIDS, drug and prostitution prevention and control and crime prevention of Nghe An province called on Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, unions, social organizations and all people in the province to pay attention to implementing action programs to prevent HIV/AIDS; effectively carry out the movement "All people participate in HIV/AIDS prevention in the community"; raise awareness, change attitudes and behaviors to help people infected with HIV and AIDS patients.

As of September 30, 2017, 6,520 people living with HIV in the province knew their infection status; 5,868 people diagnosed with HIV were put on ARV treatment; 5,281 patients on ARV treatment had viral loads below the transmission threshold./.

Thanh Son

* Morning of December 1, at Nghia Dong Secondary School, People's CommitteeTan Ky districtheld a rally for the national action month against HIV/AIDS.

As of September 30, 2015, Tan Ky district had 142 people infected with HIV, of which 100 cases progressed to AIDS, and 66 people have died.

At the ceremony, staff from Tan Ky District Medical Center distributed leaflets providing information on how to prevent HIV/AIDS infection to local people and students.

Cam Tu - Trong Hung

* On the morning of December 1, many localities of Anh Son district organized rallies in response to the "National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2015".

Phuc Son Commune (Anh Son) organized a parade to promote HIV/AIDS prevention.

As of October 2015, Anh Son had 59 cases of HIV/AIDS infection, 20 deaths. This is the district with the lowest rate of HIV/AIDS infection in the province.

Huyen Trang

* On the morning of December 1, at Nghi Thach Secondary School, Nghi Loc District Medical Center held a ceremony to launch the 2015 HIV/AIDS Prevention Action Month.

To date, Nghi Loc has detected 151 cases of HIV infection, of which 94 cases have progressed to AIDS and 54 cases have died from AIDS.
