Honda and Yamaha simultaneously reduce prices to stimulate demand
Prices of many best-selling motorbikes from Honda and Yamaha have decreased after a period of peak price increase of nearly 20 million VND.
After Tet, the Vietnamese motorbike market entered a period of cooling down in demand, so dealers had to reduce prices to stimulate demand. Many models such as Honda SH, AirBlade, Yamaha Exciter all had slight price reductions, however, compared to the suggested price of the company, they were still significantly higher.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Honda dealers are adjusting their selling prices down.about 1-2 million dongfor many products, especially scooters to stimulate demand. Honda SH 125/150 ABS still maintains high sales, around 94 and 106 million VND respectively, excluding registration fees. This price is lower than the previous set price of around 96 and 107 million VND, but still 14-16 million VND higher than the proposal.

Other models such as Honda Vision and SH Mode also had slight price reductions and gifts. While before Tet,SH Mode increased by 10 million, Air Blade increased by 5-6 million, Lead and Vision increased less, about 3-4 million.
"The price of SH is still high but lower than before Tet. Honda Air Blade is now about 4 million more expensive, one million cheaper than before," said an employee at a Head on Vo Van Ngan Street, Thu Duc District. Air Blade prices range from 41-44.4 million VND depending on the version.
Price hikes usually only occur in best-selling scooter models, Honda's manual transmission models are similar to those before Tet, with no significant changes. The Winner manual clutch model alone remains priced 5-6 million VND below the company's suggested price to boost sales. With gifts and discounts depending on the dealer, the Honda Winner's price currently ranges from 39-41 million VND.
There is no price difference as much as its rival Honda, Yamaha models are more stable, except for the manual clutch Exciter. Yamaha motorbike prices also decreased slightly after Tet when purchasing power decreased.

Exciter is a special case of the Japanese car company when the price is often increased by 3-5 million. Many Yamaha dealers in Ho Chi Minh City said that although the price of the manual clutch model is still different, it is currently about 1 million VND cheaper than before Tet, at 51-52 million VND for the matte black version. Southern customers prefer Yamaha's sporty-style models, which is one of the reasons why NVX or Exciter do not have much price reduction.
The NVX scooter model still has a price difference of 1-2 million VND as before Tet. Sales staff said that due to the small number of vehicles arriving, the price has not decreased like other products. The Janus scooter is sold at the suggested price, with some dealers reducing it but not much and below 1 million VND.
Apart from Honda and Yamaha, the two brands that account for more than 90% of the domestic motorbike market share, sales of the remaining names are quite quiet. Piaggio dealers traditionally sell at the listed price. Medley reduces the price by 5 million VND to attract customers. Meanwhile, Vespa GTS is a new, more practical "weapon" to compete with Honda's SH. Since its launch in July last year in two versions of 125 and 300cc, GTS sales have tripled. This model sells at the right price.
With quite small sales, the price of motorbikesSuzukiThere is not much fluctuation, similar to companies likeSYM, Kymco.Electric and manual motorbikes with 50cc engines aimed at students and housewives are the niches that two Taiwanese car companies are pursuing to seek profits and avoid direct confrontation with the Japanese giants.
The recent fluctuations in motorcycle prices on the market have been regulated by the purchasing power of customers. This has mainly happened with Honda and Yamaha, the two companies with the most sales and the most diverse product lines. Although the current prices have decreased compared to before Tet, it is not significant compared to the increase.
