Reporting on the socio-economic situation in the first 9 months of the year, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Nghe An, Nguyen Huu Mao, said that despite difficulties, thanks to the efforts of the entire political system, the business community and all classes of people, the province's socio-economic situation continued to develop.
The economic growth rate in the first 9 months reached 8.02%; estimated budget revenue was 9,717.6 billion VND, reaching 76.6%, up 14.7% over the same period.
Foreign affairs and investment promotion activities have received attention. In the first 9 months, 82 new projects were granted, with a total registered investment capital of VND 7,583.31 billion. The Provincial People's Committee, sectors and localities actively removed difficulties and obstacles and supported investors, speeding up the progress of projects. Along with that, 72 slow-progress projects were inspected, of which 7 projects were revoked and up to now, the whole province has had 140 slow-progress projects revoked and terminated.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment also informed about the impact of storms No. 3 and No. 4 and the flood from August 28 to 31, 2018. Accordingly, in the province, there were 10 deaths, 2 injuries; 91 houses collapsed and washed away; thousands of hectares of rice, corn, vegetables and tens of thousands of livestock and poultry were damaged.
At the press conference, a number of press agencies and journalists reflected on many practical issues, recommending that the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches and localities should intervene to clarify and respond to public opinion. For example, 569 subjects who did not meet the requirements in terms of documents were still entitled to receive war invalid benefits in the province.
Explaining this issue, representatives of the Provincial Military Command and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that currently, the authorities are temporarily suspending the payment of benefits to these subjects, and at the same time directing localities to directly meet with the subjects to request additional documents to ensure compliance with the law. If there are any errors, further solutions will be taken.

Representatives of Nhan Dan Newspaper requested the province to clarify the recovery plan for 91 households whose houses collapsed due to the impact of recent floods, and also requested the Provincial People's Committee to clarify the responsibility of hydropower plants in the issue of flood discharge causing great damage to downstream districts in recent times.
Explaining these issues, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Nghia Hieu said that the Provincial People's Committee recently established a team to inspect and evaluate the flood discharge of hydroelectric plants and confirmed that the flood discharge of some hydroelectric plants caused flooding and damage to downstream areas.
Accordingly, Khe Bo, Ban Ve, and Chi Khe hydropower plants are required to be responsible for compensating and supporting the people, and currently the Provincial People's Committee is assigning responsibility to localities to inspect and supervise this compensation and support.

Many journalists also raised many issues that the press has not responded to and handled seriously by the sectors; the resolution of some cases related to people's rights has not been positive.
Or the situation of terminating contracts and recruiting new teachers has inadvertently created the problem of not attracting talented people to schools; the problem of arranging and streamlining the organizational apparatus is overlapping between regulations; solutions to solve the current overload situation at landfills...

Frankly pointing out some limitations of some press agencies that still report inaccurately, do not reflect the true nature, causing confusion to public opinion, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong requested press agencies and journalists to continue to pay attention to and strengthen propaganda on the direction and administration of the Provincial People's Committee as well as the targets and tasks in the last 3 months of the year, contributing to the completion of the socio-economic targets for the whole year of 2018.
At the same time, press agencies need to promote the image of Nghe An; the potential to attract investment into the province; collect information to promote the 50th anniversary of Truong Bon victory...
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong set out requirements and assigned responsibilities to departments and branches to monitor and update information reflected by press agencies related to their management and advisory fields to overcome; especially, it is necessary to answer issues raised by the press when there are conclusions and assignments of the Provincial People's Committee at press conferences seriously, fully, and without avoidance.
