Signs of a naturally ripened avocado
Observe the outer skin: A ripe, naturally ripe avocado usually has a shiny skin, feels heavy when held, and when shaken, you can hear the seed rolling gently inside.
- Observe the shape: Long avocados are usually more fleshy and have smaller seeds than round avocados.
- Look at the stem: If the stem core is green, the avocado is green and unripe. If the stem core is dark brown, the avocado is overripe and about to rot. A good, ripe avocado has a stem core that is slightly yellow.
