Signs of a ripe, naturally ripe avocado

Observe the outer skin: A ripe, naturally ripe avocado often has a shiny skin, feels heavy when held, and when shaken you can hear the seed rolling lightly inside.

  • Observe the shape: Long avocados usually have more flesh and smaller seeds than round avocados.
  • Look at the stem: If the stem core is green, the avocado is green and unripe. If the stem core is dark brown, the avocado is overripe and about to rot. A good, ripe avocado has a stem core that is slightly yellow.

How to distinguish chemically treated avocado: it is an avocado that feels soft to the touch but the skin is wrinkled, not firm, you cannot peel it easily, the skin is broken in pieces, the avocado flesh is mushy.

Leave the avocado in a cool place to ripen naturally.
When you buy it, if the avocado is still green, wash it, put it in a cool basket, the stem facing up, you can use a slightly wet towel to cover the avocado. Do this about 2-3 times a day, the avocado will ripen quickly, not lose water and taste better.
