The man who led the ring that sold women to China was sentenced.

On June 20, the Provincial People's Court opened a trial of defendant Cut Van Hoi (born 1989), residing in Pha Danh commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of "Human trafficking".

According to the indictment, around June 2013, after agreeing to send women to China with a woman named Kim, Cut Van Hoi called Cut Thi Phien (born in 1984), residing in Huu Lap commune, Ky Son district, to ask her to find someone. Whoever agreed to go would receive 30 million VND, and Phien would receive 20 million VND in wages. Phien drew up a vision of a happy marriage with a Chinese man to entice Moong Thi M. (born in 1994).

After M. agreed, Cut Thi Phien contacted the Association to take people to China. The Association knew that Luong Van Duong (born in 1995, residing in Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district) had been to China, so they asked him to take M. there for a fee of 10 million VND.

When the route was agreed upon, Luong Van Thanh (born in 1984, Phien's husband) took Moong Thi M. to deliver to Hoi. Hoi gave M. to Duong to take to China for Kim and told Duong to bring back 60 million VND.

After selling M., the woman named Kim gave Duong 60 million VND to bring back to Vietnam. Duong kept 10 million VND for himself and gave Hoi 50 million VND. Using the excuse that he got little money from selling M., Cut Van Hoi only paid Cut Thi Phien 10 million VND, not paying the victim's family 30 million VND as previously committed.

On June 26, 2018, Moong Thi M. fled back to Vietnam and reported the actions of Cut Van Hoi and his accomplices to the Ky Son District Police Investigation Agency.

Cut Thi Phien, Luong Van Duong and Luong Van Thanh were arrested. Cut Van Hoi had fled the area before. On January 5, 2019, Hoi surrendered to the police investigation agency of Ky Son district.

On November 22, 2018, Nghe An Provincial People's Court sentenced Luong Van Duong to 5 years in prison; Luong Van Thanh to 4 years in prison; Cut Thi Phien to 30 months in prison but suspended the sentence; forced all 3 defendants to compensate 30 million VND as requested by the victim.

At the trial, Cut Van Hoi admitted all his crimes. Considering the case as a whole, the panel sentenced Cut Van Hoi to 5 years in prison.
