The tea tree, with its trunk as large as a water bucket and reaching a height of 10-15 meters, grows amidst the ancient forest of Pa Vay Su commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province and is considered a treasure. The tree is said to be over a thousand years old.
Pa Vay Su commune boasts thousands of hectares of pristine forest. Covered in clouds year-round, at altitudes ranging from 1,500m to 3,000m, countless rare plant species thrive in this area. For many years, the Dao people here have been proud to have preserved this ancient tea forest.
The local people have been cultivating this high-quality tea. However, to date, the processing of this ancient tea variety has not received systematic investment. It is estimated that the entire Pa Vay Su commune has thousands of ancient tea trees, located on the peak of Khang Su Van mountain.
