Timely recognition of typical examples of 'Elderly people with bright examples'

On the morning of November 29, in Vinh city, Nghe An province, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly held a Conference to summarize the emulation and reward work of emulation cluster No. V - North Central provinces in 2019.

Attending the Conference, on behalf of Nghe An province, there were comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of a number of provincial departments and branches.

The conference was co-chaired by comrades: Ngo Trong Vinh - Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly and Cao Dang Vinh - President of the Nghe An Association of the Elderly. Representatives of the leaders of the Association of the Elderly of the emulation cluster No. V - the North Central provinces attended the conference.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee affirmed the great role of the elderly in social life and the development of the homeland and the country. Therefore, the province always promotes the policy of promoting the role of the elderly; the number of elderly Party members accounts for a large proportion, which is a solid support for Party committees and authorities at all levels.

To encourage the elderly to continue to contribute, the guiding role of the Elderly Association at all levels is really important, so emulation cluster No. V needs to determine the basic content of emulation activities, creating conditions for the movement to take place actively, effectively and practically, continuing to contribute to the development of the homeland and country.

Emulation cluster No. V, including the Elderly Association of the North Central provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue.

Year2019 is the year preparing to end the 5-year Plan (2015 - 2020). With the attention of the Party Committee, the government, the direction of the Central Standing Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, and the efforts to overcome difficulties of the Association at all levels, the Association's work and the elderly movement of the provinces in the cluster have achieved important results in the work of building the Association's organization, caring for and promoting the role of the elderly as well as implementing the targets of the 5th Congress of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly.

Currently, the entire cluster has 1,363,440 elderly members, reaching the elderly gathering rate of 92.65%, operating in 1,829 grassroots associations, 17,580 branches, and 12,851 association groups. Of which, Thua Thien - Hue has 168,225 members, reaching 86%; Quang Tri has 77,581 members, reaching 86.07%; Quang Binh has 110,725 members, reaching 89.77%; Ha Tinh has 172,972 members, reaching 88.53%; Nghe An has 390,359 members, reaching 96.18%; Thanh Hoa has 443,578 members, reaching 95.80%.

In the 6 provinces, there are 19,303 cultural, artistic, sports, aerobics and volleyball clubs, attracting 459,800 elderly people to participate. The clubs have truly become useful playgrounds for the elderly, and are developing widely, having a positive effect on the health of the elderly. There are 1,164 "Intergenerational Self-Help" clubs; 1,665 communes and wards have established a fund for the elderly with an amount of 49,508 million VND; mobilized 29,488 million VND to donate to 93,896 elderly people; donated 1,608,811m²land, contributed 1,006,269 working days, 307,617 million VND for new rural construction...

Speaking at the discussion, delegates proposed many important ideas to improve the effectiveness and quality of activities of the Association at all levels, promote the role of the elderly in the new situation and the care and support of the elderly...

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Ngo Trong Vinh - Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly acknowledged the efforts of the Association of the Elderly in the provinces of Cluster V in the emulation movement, especially the movement "Old age is a shining example". At the same time, he requested the Association of the Elderly in the provinces to closely follow the key tasks, consolidate and improve the organization of the Association to operate more and more effectively.

Carry out well the work of advising, supervising and summarizing the movements of the Elderly Association, promptly commending typical examples, especially the movement "Elderly people are shining examples" and building the Intergenerational Club.

On this occasion, the Conference unanimously proposed that the Vietnam Association of the Elderly award the Emulation Flag to the Association of the Elderly of Nghe An province and the Certificate of Merit to the Associations of the Elderly of the remaining 5 provinces. At the same time, the emulation movement was launched and the Ha Tinh Association of the Elderly was introduced as the Head of Cluster V in 2020./.
