Need to strengthen mechanisms and policies to help fishermen go offshore

After 60 years of development, Nghe An Fisheries industry has achieved remarkable achievements. Currently, the whole province has3,521 fishing vessels, of which 1,430 are offshore fishing vessels; over 21 thousand hectares of aquaculture; over 50 seed production facilities, producing nearly 3 billion seeds of all kinds each year; exploitation and aquaculture output reaching over 200 thousand tons.
Fishing logistics facilities are increasingly invested and upgraded; the whole province has 13 fishing ports, fishing wharves and storm shelters that have been and are being built; 58 shipbuilding and boat repair facilities.Many new technologies in exploitation, resource search, product preservation, protection and development of aquatic resources have been applied..

Acknowledging the achievements of the Fisheries sector, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that in the coming time, the Fisheries sector needs to continue to strengthen management, rational use of natural resources and resources, protect the ecological environment; focus on mobilizing, managing and rationally using resources for investment in infrastructure construction.

In addition, there are solutions to attract individuals and businesses to invest in the fisheries sector, encourage aquaculture in the direction of VietGAP, high technology; promote the construction of large-capacity ships, offshore fishing, equipped with modern equipment to ensure long-term operations at sea, gradually modernize the fishing industry; invest in preservation and processing technology to increase the value and competitiveness of products.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also specifically noted that the industry should focus on propaganda, encouragement and have reasonable policies and mechanisms to help fishermen feel secure going out to sea and sticking to the sea.
On this occasion, 1 collective and 1 individual received Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; 54 ship owners exploiting offshore areas were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
