The origin of this cold air mass comes from the Siberian cold high pressure (a high pressure mass that exists in the area from 40 to 60 degrees North latitude). This cold air mass, after flowing through China, gradually spreads down to Vietnam, causing a strong change in weather, causing rain and strong winds, and severe cold.
PV: In recent years, winter has rarely been very cold, but now the temperature is too low. Can you explain this phenomenon?
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tien:From the second half of 2020 until now, the sea surface temperature in the NINO 3.4 region has tended to decrease gradually and transition to La Nina state. Under the impact of La Nina phenomenon, the weather in the North Central region has quite complicated developments. Normally, in La Nina years, cold air tends to operate early, the average temperature is approximately equal to or lower than the average of many years.
