The film about father and son love by director Luong Dinh Dung revealed that many scenes in the film were filmed in the Bac Me region and along the Gam River.

The film Father and Son by director Luong Dinh Dung has finished filming and entered the post-production stage. Recently, the film crew released images taken in Bac Me, Ha Giang - the main setting of the film. This is a location with towering mountains, rivers and clouds, suitable for the film's story. |
The film is based on the story of the same name by director Luong Dinh Dung, focusing on depicting the simple and beautiful love between father and son Moc and Ca. Ca lost his mother at a young age and always dreamed of touching the clouds floating in the sky. Meanwhile, the father, who has spent his whole life fishing on the riverbank, still quietly nurtures in his son imaginary stories about the land filled with light that he himself has never set foot on. |
According to Luong Dinh Dung, he got the idea to make the film Cha cong con when he read a news report about a case of a son beating his father to the point of collapse a few years ago. Haunted by that image, he felt even more compelled to do something beautiful about family love. |
The film was first shot in 2013. However, the entire set was submerged by floodwaters, and all plans were postponed. The project seemed to have to be canceled when the child actors gradually grew up and no longer matched the age of the characters. After two years of delay, at the end of July this year, the crew of Father and Son, directed by Luong Dinh Dung, set off for the second time. To get the desired shots, the whole crew had to travel nearly 20,000 km from Ha Giang, Bac Me, Tuyen Quang, Ha Goi to Saigon. |
The film is expected to have beautiful natural scenes in Ha Giang like the work I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass - which caused a fever this year with its poetic scenery in Phu Yen. |
In the film, actor Ngo The Quan plays a man who lost his wife early, raising his children alone, and making a living by fishing. Although he does not have a family yet, The Quan believes that his lack of knowledge about fatherhood is not a problem because he has witnessed the "single father" life of his relatives. The Quan learns from them how to behave and their experiences. |
The film features many child actors selected by the director from all over the country. |
The Gam River has clear and muddy water, sometimes fierce and sometimes gentle, making the surrounding nature seem to always change color. The riverbank is rugged and rugged. The film crew had to follow the water to encounter soft grass slopes to film. |
A big scene in the movie was filmed at dawn in Ha Giang. |

Filming began on a day of heavy rain and storms, and the crew often worked in stormy conditions and lightning. The crew also had some unexpected luck. Just as they finished filming at the river, the floodwaters came and submerged the entire set. |
