Dinh was arrested while taking a bath. Knowing he was surrounded, Dinh fought back fiercely but could not escape. To rescue the suspect, many people in the village, including his brothers and relatives, threw stones and used sticks to obstruct the police, forcing the authorities to fire into the air to suppress the attack.
According to the police, Dinh was one of eight people running a ring that bought and transported nearly 1,400 heroin cakes, which was dismantled in late 2014. This group designed a secret compartment in a car, transported hundreds of heroin cakes from Laos to Dien Bien, then switched the license plate to an identical car. The car containing the drugs then drove straight to China to unload the goods.
Currently, the investigation agency has arrested and prosecuted 11 cases, detained 7 vehicles, and seized many assets.
