(Baonghean.vn) - The two pairs of villages that just signed the agreement are Pung Vai village, Pha Danh village cluster, Muong Quan district, Hua Phan province, Lao PDR and Pha Chieng village, My Ly commune, Ky Son district.

This is the 19th pair of copies on the Vietnam - Laos border to sign the agreement.

Before the twinning ceremony, officers and soldiers of Nghe An Border Guard Command, My Ly Border Guard Station, and the Party Committee and government of My Ly commune made many working trips to Laos to discuss and agree on the organization plan with the cadres of Pung Vai village.

On May 22, the official twinning ceremony took place. At the ceremony, representatives of the two villages of Pung Vai and Pha Chieng approved the memorandum of understanding, agreeing on the contents of joint implementation based on the foreign policy of the two Parties, the two States and the agreements and regulations of the Vietnam - Laos border area that the two countries have signed, aiming to build a safe border, the two sides develop together and support each other in all aspects, building an increasingly sustainable friendship between the two countries of Vietnam - Laos.

Officials and people of the two villages have agreed to implement the commitment to regularly grasp the security and order situation in the border area, proactively and promptly exchange information with each other to coordinate in the fight against security violations, violations of territorial sovereignty and other crimes on the border; strengthen coordination in preventing and combating free migration, illegal religious activities, and not trading, transporting and using drugs, weapons, explosives, toxic cultural products and other violations of the law.

The two sides will also actively propagate and mobilize people to protect the status quo of the border line, border markers and border belt signs; support and help each other develop the economy, culture and society, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, organize cultural, artistic, physical education and sports exchange activities, and gradually eliminate backward customs.

On this occasion, the Nghe An Border Guard Command presented the people of Pung Vai village with a domestic water tank worth 26 million VND and many other valuable gifts.

My Ly Border Guard Station also awarded a scholarship worth 5 million VND to support a poor but excellent student of Pung Vai village.
