Conjoined twins share one heart
Two baby girls were born on July 2 in India, conjoined from chest to abdomen, weighing a total of 3.5 kg, and most likely cannot be separated surgically.
The twins share the same heart, beat together, and are in stable health. Doctors say it is unlikely they can be separated surgically.
"Separation is almost impossible in such cases as the two babies share some vital organs, making the chances of survival after surgery less," the doctor said.

Currently, the rate of conjoined twins is one in 50,000 to 60,000 births, of which about 70% of cases are girls. About 75% of twins are joined at least partially at the chest and share some body parts.
If twins have separate body parts, the chance of surgical separation and survival is greater than if they share many organs. In principle, conjoined twins with a heart cannot be separated.
