The sad story of a single mother of 7 children when her husband was sentenced for murder
(Baonghean.vn) - Since her husband went to prison, Ms. Hoa Thi H. (Hooc Van Man's wife) has been raising 7 children alone and shouldering the debt left by her husband. She leaves her children to do whatever work anyone asks her to do. Thinking back to the night of the incident, she only wishes, "If only I had asked my husband to stay home to look after the children that night, things would have been less difficult and the mother and children would have suffered less."
Committed a crime after a drinking party
On the night of mid-August 2018, Mr. Hooc Pho V. (born in 1961; residing in Ta Do village, Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district) organized a meal at his son's house and invited some people in the village to eat. Being "neighbors who help each other in times of need", and also having a blood relationship, Hooc Van Man (born in 1976; residing in Ta Do village, Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district) was also invited to drink.

After drinking 3 bottles of wine with Man and some other friends, Mr. V. got a little drunk, overturned the dinner tray and chased everyone away. When Man stood up to try to stop him, Mr. V. punched and kicked him with his hands and feet. That night, Man said nothing and went home to sleep.
The next afternoon, Man went fishing in the Nam Mo River (Ky Son). When he returned home, he saw Mr. V. lying drunk by the stream, so Man helped Mr. V. to his son's house nearby. At this time, Mrs. Moong Thi Kham (Mr. V.'s wife) gave Man 10 thousand dong so that Man could buy alcohol to drink to "make peace". At the drinking table, Mr. V. apologized to Man and was accepted. After that, this group of people continued drinking until late at night.
When he almost finished the bottle of wine, Mr. V. told everyone to go home, but Mrs. Kham did not let him. Mr. V. said: "You are still here, do you want to play with my wife?". Man replied: "Don't say that, your wife is my sister."
At this time, Mr. V. used his hand to punch Man in the head and used his foot to kick Man's left side. Man went out the door and saw a wooden stick, 80 cm long, leaning against the wall of the house. He picked it up and hit Mr. V. in the head, causing the victim to fall onto the bed, bleeding from his nose and ears. After beating the victim, Man went home to sleep.
Immediately, Mr. V. was taken to the commune health station for first aid and then transferred to Nghe An General Hospital for treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, on August 23, Mr. V. was released from the hospital. On August 25, Mr. V.deathat home
The forensic examination concluded that Mr. Hooc Van V. died from a skull fracture. After learning of the victim’s death, Hooc Van Man went to the police station to confess his crime.
Woman's sadness
Born and raised in Ta Do village (Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district), Hoa Thi H. (born in 1981) like many other girls from the mountainous region, is always hard-working, diligent, and hopes to have a warm and happy family. When she was just 16 years old, she met a boy from the same village named Hooc Van Man, and H. had certain feelings for him.
It is known that before meeting Ms. H., Man had been in prison for the same crime.KillingAfter serving his sentence, he returned to his hometown to reform and met Ms. H.
Ms. Hoa Thi H. shared: “After knowing each other for a while, I found out that he went to prison, but I didn’t know why. I just saw that Man was hard-working, gentle, quiet, and loved his wife and children, so I loved him.”
Just like that, new feelings were nurtured and enough to progress to marriage. Joy came one after another when the couple welcomed the birth of their children.

After 14 years of living together, they had 7 children. However, the life of having 3 meals a day for 7 children was difficult, poor, clinging to the couple's life, then Man started to indulge in drinking to drown his sorrows, neglecting family work.
Living in a remote area, relying only on farming and government subsidies, and having to raise 7 children, Ms. Hoa Thi H. mainly returned to her parents' house to receive support from her grandparents in taking care of the children. On the day of the incident, she had to run around for a long time to get 1 million VND to visit the victim's family. That was all the capital she had on her.
Recalling the day of the incident, Ms. H. could only sigh and wish: "If only I had asked him to stay home to look after the children that night, things would have been less awkward and the mother and child would have suffered less."
At the end of September 2019, the first instance trial of Hoc Van Man for murder was held.
Although her youngest child was only nearly 2 years old, when she heard that her husband was about to be tried, Ms. H. packed her bags and took the earliest bus to attend. Throughout the trial, she held tightly to her bag, which contained several sets of clothes and an old blanket to send to her husband when the season changed.
Hooc Van Man, a small man, stood behind the witness stand. When asked about his actions, Man could only reply, “I am very sorry.” Man said that because he had been drunk, beaten twice, and insulted, he could not control himself.
Holding the right to prosecute at the trial, the prosecutor said that Man's repeated crime was due to his hooliganism, which was the reason for such a serious crime.
When given the last word, Man repeatedly wiped away his tears. His apology to the victim's family was repeatedly interrupted by Man's belated sobs of regret. Ms. H., sitting below, could not hold back her tears either.
On the victim's side, Mr. V.'s son - the legal representative of the victim - requested a legal trial and demanded civil compensation to compensate for the family's losses.
For the crime of murder, the People's Court sentenced Hooc Van Man to 10 years in prison, ordered the defendant to compensate more than 143 million VND to the victim's family, and at the same time pay 500,000 VND per month for the victim's youngest daughter until she turns 18 years old.
The burdens and difficulties still weighed heavily on Ms. H.'s shoulders, but she still worked hard to raise her children and wait for her husband to return, because she always remembered the last words her husband told her in court: "Try to raise your children." This is not only a great lesson for the people of Ta Do village (Muong Tip commune) but also a painful experience for everyone, that do not let alcohol lead you, it can easily make people lose themselves and also make those around us suffer...
