A spokesman for Zhangjiajie National Park said the bridge was closed not because of deterioration, but because of the large number of visitors, forcing many people to wait for hours to step onto it.
This also makes it difficult to build tourist facilities around the area, such as parking lots and ticket offices. National park officials have not yet announced a date for the bridge to reopen.
The glass-bottomed bridge is located in the scenic area of Zhangjiajie National Park, Hunan Province, China, designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan. Located at an altitude of 300 m, 430 m long, the bridge is considered the highest and longest glass-bottomed bridge in the world. In the future, visitors are expected to be able to participate in bungee jumping and swinging here. The bridge will also be used as a catwalk for some fashion shows.
