Overseas Vietnamese player from Nghe An was called up to the Vietnam U19 team

Coach Hua Hien Vinh has called up 35 U19 Vietnam players to prepare for the U19 Southeast Asian tournament. Notably on this list is overseas Vietnamese player Ho Huu Hung, originally from Quynh Luu, Nghe An.

The Vietnam U19 team will gather again to prepare for the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 Championship from June 25. During this gathering, head coach Hua Hien Vinh has given opportunities to a total of 35 players.

In this list, coach Hua Hien Vinh has called up 14 young players from Nghe An, including: goalkeeper Cao Van Binh, Nguyen Bao Ngoc and Nguyen Quang Huy; defenders Le Nguyen Hoang, Hoang Minh Hoi, Dang Thanh Binh, Nguyen Mai Hoang; midfielders Nguyen Quang Vinh, Le Dinh Long Vu, Nguyen Trong Tuan, Pham Nguyen Quoc Trung, Ho Huu Hung, Vi Dinh Thuong and striker Phung Van Nam.

Notably, in the list of 14 players from Nghe An, there is the appearance of a player currently playing in the Czech Republic - midfielder Ho Huu Hung.

Midfielder Ho Huu Hung was born in 2006, originally from Nghe An. Both his parents are from Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province; he holds both Vietnamese and Czech citizenship. This player has spent 13 years training and playing football in the Czech Republic; currently plays for CU Bohemians Praha Club in the Czech Republic National Championship and has participated in the Czech Republic U15/U16 team.

Before playing for CU Bohemians Praha, Ho Huu Hung played for FC Slovácko from 2011 to 2016 and SK Slavia Praha from 2016 to 2018. Ho Huu Hung's best positions are attacking midfielder and winger. He is considered a "strange bird" in this training session of the Vietnam U19 team.

Sharing with Nghe An Newspaper reporters about his son returning to his homeland to play for the U19 Vietnam team, Mr. Ho Huu Hung - midfielder Ho Huu Hung's father said: ''The family is very worried about whether he can adapt to the environment of Vietnamese football or not. However, I also encourage him to practice hard, and if given the opportunity, he should play his best for the flag and the shirt''.

Midfielder Ho Huu Hung will fly from the Czech Republic to join the Vietnam U19 team from July 5. He and his teammates will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. On July 16, the team will leave for Indonesia to participate in the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 Championship with the official list shortened to 23 players.

The 2024 AFF U19 Championship will take place in Surabaya, Indonesia from July 17 to 29, 2024. Teams will compete in a round-robin format in each group to determine rankings. The top three teams in each group and the second-placed team with the best results in each group will advance to the semi-finals. The Vietnam U19 team is in Group B with the Laos, Myanmar and Australia U19 teams.

According to the schedule, the Vietnam U19 team will play its opening match against Myanmar U19 on July 18, then face Australia U19 on July 21 and Laos U19 on July 24./.
