VFF appoints new person to lead U19 Vietnam, replacing coach Hoang Anh Tuan
(Baonghean.vn) - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has decided to appoint coaches Hua Hien Vinh and Tran Minh Chien as head coaches of Vietnam U19 and U16 teams, replacing Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan.
On the afternoon of May 14, VFF decided to appoint coach Hua Hien Vinh as head coach of the Vietnam U19 team to participate in the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 Championship and the 2025 Asian U20 Qualifiers.
Mr. Hua Hien Vinh signed a long-term contract with VFF from November 2023, with the main task of participating in the selection and training of national youth teams. Coach Hua Hien Vinh is known as a person with rich experience in training young players with many years of working at Pho Hien Club (now PVF CAND) as well as PVF Center.
At the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, coach Hua Hien Vinh was the "right-hand man" of head coach Hoang Anh Tuan, making an important contribution to the journey to the championship of the Vietnam U23 team. After this tournament, coach Hua Hien Vinh continued to join the coaching staff of the Vietnam Olympic team at the 19th Asiad. Most recently, coach Hua Hien Vinh also played an important role in the coaching staff of the Vietnam U23 team competing to reach the quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian U23 Finals.

According to the plan, the Vietnam U19 team will gather on May 16 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with about 30 players called up. This is also the first training session of the Vietnam U19 team towards the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 Championship, taking place in Indonesia from July 17 to July 29, followed by the 2025 Asian U20 Qualifiers taking place at the end of September.
During this training session, coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team will be given the opportunity by VFF to participate in the international U19 football tournament organized by the Chinese Football Federation from June 2 to June 12, with the participation of U19 China, U19 Uzbekistan and U19 Korea.
Also this afternoon, VFF appointed Mr. Tran Minh Chien to lead the Vietnam U16 team, preparing for two important tasks in the coming time: participating in the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 Championship and the 2025 Asian U17 Qualifiers.

According to the plan, the Vietnam U16 team will gather again on May 22 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, preparing to participate in the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 Championship taking place in Indonesia from June 21 to July 4 and aiming for the 2025 Asian U17 Qualifiers taking place in October.
2025 is also the first year that FIFA has decided to increase the number of teams participating in the U17 World Cup finals from 24 to 48 and organize them regularly every year instead of every two years as before. Detailed information about the change in the allocation of participation slots for each region has not been announced yet, but certainly the number of Asian teams with the opportunity to participate in these tournaments will increase significantly. This is a good sign for youth teams, including Vietnam, to have more opportunities to get closer to the ticket to the U17 World Cup finals./.
