According to local historical documents, during the years of fighting against the French, the Ham Rong banyan tree was the place where hammer and sickle flags were hung to encourage the struggle. Ham Rong Temple used to be the production facility of the Ton That Cung chemical factory under the Military Department of Inter-zone 3-4 with the main task of producing explosives for stuffing rifle bullets and grenades. In 1947, there were 2 major explosions here. Notably, the explosion in July 1947 killed 8 heroic martyrs and the temple collapsed. Over the past time, the ancient Sanh tree has been preserved and protected by the local government and people as a valuable asset. Thanh Huong commune has issued a decision to establish a working group to compile documents on the ancient temple associated with the ancient Sanh tree, where 8 martyrs sacrificed their lives, and to prepare a document to submit to superiors to request the restoration of the temple and request recognition as a historical relic.
