Rectifying personnel work, not replicating the 'model' of choosing relatives

It is necessary to study carefully to avoid cases of taking advantage of acquaintances and relatives to enter the leadership ranks and do things that affect the country.

The 4th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee has just ended, attracting the attention of many cadres, party members and people in the Mekong Delta region. Opinions highly appreciated the closing speech of the Conference by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, because it raised the key and urgent tasks and specific solutions that the entire Party, army and people must strive for and implement to help the country overcome difficulties and challenges and continue to develop.

Many cadres and party members believe that the Party's anti-corruption work has achieved certain results, but needs to be more drastic. When this situation is pushed back, people's trust in the Party and the State will be raised, creating momentum for the country to develop sustainably.

Mr. Truong Ngoc Kim, a party member in My Tho city, Tien Giang province, said that the Party needs to promote democracy among the people so that they can actively detect and contribute to the fight against corruption.

"The Party has raised many issues to fight and win. But there is one issue that people are also very concerned about, which is anti-corruption. Although we have had many achievements in fighting corruption, we have not yet achieved our expectations. We, the people, want the Party to propagate and mobilize the masses, promote democracy, and actively detect and fight corruption. At the same time, the Party must also resolutely fight corruption. Once corruption is discovered, corrupt people must be dealt with decisively. The fight against corruption must be done decisively and quickly, not let it drag on for months or even years," Mr. Truong Ngoc Kim suggested.

Ms. Phan Thi Hong Nhung, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Can Tho City, said that to overcome the situation of formal criticism and self-criticism, which is not really effective in Party organizations, especially in anti-corruption work, there needs to be clear regulations and more specific responsibilities of the heads of the Front and Party organizations in supervision work.

"People's supervision of Party work is not deep and not much. Therefore, when the General Secretary concluded the issues that need to be focused on, it is clear that the supervisory and critical role of the Fatherland Front and the people in Party organizations is necessary and correct. However, in the past, organizations and people have found it difficult to supervise Party members. When incidents occur, people only know through the mass media, while self-criticism and criticism by Party organizations are not detected, causing outrage among public opinion and people. Therefore, there must be clear and specific regulations so that the supervisory role of the Fatherland Front and the people in Party organizations is carried out openly and transparently, in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 4 of the Central Committee."

Mr. Tran Van Doan, Chairman of the Elderly Association of My Khanh Commune, Phong Dien District, Can Tho City, suggested that it is necessary to rectify the work of cadres, and not to replicate the "model" of relatives of new leaders being assigned good jobs. Only then will party members and cadres not violate the Party's principles and ethics.

According to Mr. Tran Van Doan: "There needs to be solutions to help cadres and party members better fulfill their obligations as party members. Currently, there have been cases where the planning and arrangement of party members and cadres are not really accurate. There are still relatives of leaders who are arranged in good working positions; from there, there are cadres and party members who violate the Party's principles, violate the ethics of cadres and party members, causing loss of state assets. I think that, in the future, in the work of planning party members and cadres, it is necessary to study carefully and accurately to avoid cases of taking advantage of acquaintances and relatives to infiltrate the ranks of leaders and do things that affect the prestige of the Party and the country's economy"./.
